Mindful Communication

April 21, 2018
4:05 p.m.  -  4:35 p.m.
Lecture Room 1

Sometimes it’s not what you say that is impactful, but what you don’t say can be even more.

How many times have you had a conversation with someone and they were telling a story and you start
talking with them or over them to get your point across? Maybe you felt like you might forget what you
had to say in response.

When listening we are still, quiet and attentive. Listening should be a time to understand and not to
reply. Be aware of your thoughts and feelings without acting on them.

Allow them to know you heard their voice, by actively and mindfully choosing to listen completely until
the end of the story. Maybe, thank you is enough.
